Wl21 Preseason Community Power Rankings with Zeg and Jbar!

And we’re back with another season of community power rankings with Zeg and Jbar. This season we had to change up the format a little, instead ranking each team on a scale instead of ranking all of them in order. In order to determine the standing of each team, a point system was applied.

  • 5 Points for each Championship Contender vote

  • 4 Points for each Playoff Lock vote

  • 3 Points for each Borderline Playoffs vote

  • 2 Points for each Outside Playoffs vote

  • 1 Point for each Last Place vote

Jbar and I will provide commentary on each team in order of their finish. Zeg’s thoughts will be in Blue, Jbar’s in Red. Since we’re mixing it up this season, the rankings will go last to first.

10) Chaos of the Missing Pens (Zim, Cleak, Grunt, Nihilus, Beam): 66 Total Points

Zeg: Coming in last place is Zim’s squad. During the draft I was convinced Zim was punting, just picking Cleak because he wants to play with him then looking to maximize chaos with his other picks. Though I still think this team is probably the weakest in the league, I’ve come around to the idea that they may be able to win some games. The reason I personally still have them last is now due more to the strength of the other teams than the weakness of this squad.

Jbar: Dark started the draft off really strong picking Cleak, but then let Cleak have all the power and now Cleak is the captain nao, aka captain chaos, and that’s what he built with his remaining draft picks. Grunt the catjam gif poster and nihlus the I’m 2 good for this team to lose 2 games I quit the season little bitch runner, gonna need a lot of practice and scrims to make this team successful but I see them getting out from this last ranking spot.

9) Alpha’s Team (Alpha, Silva, Snipezzz, Pie, Priest): 73 Total Points

J: Man isn’t ranked dead last this season in preseason, might not have the same chip on his shoulder as he carried to the ship year prior. Once again his team looks like a huge gamble. Will Snipes die mid season, is Pie gonna actually run, will Silva stop going for kd and push forward, all things we have to look forward to on the next episode of Turtle Ball Z.

Z: Coming slightly above Zim’s team slots in Alpha’s. Despite the talent on the team, there are still a good number of questions as well. If this squad is able to play their games, remain focused, and return to their previous forms then they have the potential to make some noise. If not, we’re looking at results very similar to what The Boys put up last season.

8) Knickstape (BCK, AJ, eTazedd, SaltPeterBread, CornChip): 77 Total Points

Z: BCK comes in 8th with a team that should at the very least be a lot of fun. Both of BCK’s first two picks didn’t play last season (or in Tazed’s case a lot longer than just last season) so it will be interesting if they need some time to return to form. BCK is the best runner in the league and the tanking line has the potential to be solid, so don’t be shocked if this team is able to slide into the 6 seed come playoff time.

J: I think Blue got really screwed by the draft order, solid player no doubt about it, but the kid is only a pure runner, nothing else, making him pick r1 in the latter half you big bullys. That aside though, he still managed to throw together a solid squad. It just depends if AJ is gonna show up to play or not. That season off might have ruined him, prob not he sucked anyway just got carried by Digital and Silva

7) Don’t be a Gonk Scet (Scet, Galvann, Menz, BCN, Nkot): 91 Total Points

J: This team is a huge ??? to me. Is scet actually a decent player or did he just ride Ace’s coat tail going for hexas last season and will Galv and him actually work together. At least they have a solid player in Menz to point all the blame at when things aren’t going their way this season.

Z: We finally have a little bit of separation between teams. The Menzkot squad comes in 14 points ahead of 8th place and is the last team we have outside of the playoff positions. Glav, Menz, and Nkot actually worked decently last season and now they have a better fourth. If last seasons #1 pick, Galvann returns to the form he showed in the classic season there is a chance that this team could win a game or two in playoffs.

6) Fruit Gang (Star, Tanker, Aspence, Wrecking Nerdz, Mini Oreo Man): 93 Total Points

Z: I don’t know…that’s all. While Star and Tanker will make for a good one two punch, neither really finished pushes well. The bottom two on this team, I know absolutely nothing about except they play Reach. If one of them can tank well, having their “runner” Aspence, being the worst tank would be a very good spot to be in.

J: Actually shocked how low this team is. Star and Tanker are solid players no doubt about it. With Aspence really picking up his game from last season, looking like the old monster he once was, he’ll need to be the backbone to carry these wittle babies to the promised land

5) Rock Bottom (Regresser, Jbar, Diablo, Atone, LiquidNitrogen): 100 Total Points

J: Well the madlad actually did it. Had the chance to pick Jbar up last season when Turtle fucked things up, but this time around didn’t let the chance to play with the fatgoat slip by. Might be one of the most toxic teams in the league, and as long as we dont self implode we should be sitting pretty. Godless really lucked out in the 2nd and 3rd round securing some solid

players in Diablo and Atone, big mistake by other captains letting them slip by

Z: We have another small gap here and this is where we have a very tight race at the top. Regresser managed to put together one of the deepest rosters despite having a late draft pick. Though there is no stud on this squad, there are four very capable players each of whom can step up on any given night. Regresser’s primary success has come when he teams with at least one stud, so it will be interesting to see if this approach pays off for him.

T-3) Mandingo Mojo (Zeg, Dhmon, Fancy, Martin, Conra): 103 Total Points

T-3) Yung Humma (Gingy, Halfbreed, Doer, Killerz, Tommy): 103 Total Points

Z: It’s only fitting that these two teams are linked together. After all, I had traded my #3 overall pick to Gingy in order to put together a deep roster. Gingy chose the other route, pairing himself with another stud and using his late round picks to fill out his roster. Things came together for both squads very nicely. For my team, we have a formidable tanking lineup and the best runner available in the draft pool. For Gingy, he was able to get Halfbreed then when Doer slid down the draft board picked him up as well. This in my opinion will be an interesting race to watch to see which side of the trade ends up paying off more.

J: On paper i think Zeg’s team looks amazing, it just really comes down to how they actually play together on the court. They’ve got Fancy the pause vape and kill you tank, the Zeg i don’t kill shit but im a dino tank, and Dhmon the new and improved Silva tank with Martin to run around and just do whatever he wants.  Unfortunately I think their styles are going to clash

and end up killing each other just as much as the other team. We’ll have to wait and see, also it’s going to be a great race to see who goes emo-mode first Zeg or Dhmon.

Don’t worry i got a plan, there is no plan captain Gingy in making the move to grab 1 of the top 3 players in the draft to only be left with Halfbreed. I think he was aiming for 1 of the other 2, but still not a bad choice. Scary duo indeed, Gingy and Halfbreed, sadly you need 4 people to win grifball games in h3. We’ll most likely see this team struggle or fizzle out dropping in rankings faster than anyone else

2) Limitless (Robot, Sab, Gilded, Canon, Peturb): 109 Total Points

J: Back in the league once again, and somehow managed to assemble most of his old ammy team in a draft setup. If only Zim sucked a little more, having Sab the playoff MVP leading the team to a championship, the kid has his work cut out for ‘em again this season having to carry Robot and Canon. Hopefully Gilded can aleve some of the weight on his shoulders this season.

Z: Solidly in second place somes a bit of a mystery team. While this group has a history and a pedigree, a number of players on this team haven’t played in a few seasons. Sab put together possibly his best run in a championship run last season so if he is able to carry on in that form they’ll definitely win some games. The question is with their schedule and rust, will they be able to win enough to justify the number two ranking

1) Bridging for Host (Xerack, Ace, Rage, Tad, Myst): 120 Total Points

Z: We know how well being the preseason favorite worked last season (Galv and Chipmunks were a mess), so hopefully Ace and friends are able to buck that trend. This team is very good as well as deep. With a top runner, MVP of last season, and two people deserving of the 4th spot on this roster they should be able to make up for their poor 2nd round pick. My only question for this team is who is holding forward and tanking in goals, but that should be a relatively easy problem to solve.

J: All Xerack has to do this season is eat corn the right way not the long way and he should be fine. Grabbing Ace with the 1st overall pick is never a wrong choice and lucky to get Rage at the top of the 2nd. It would be a small miracle for this team to miss playoffs, what most people would say, i think they are gonna eat a whole bag of dicks, but for now they can hold on to the top spot in the rankings.
